Sometimes art evolves in strange and beautiful ways.
The more I sat with this painting, the more it struck me as missing something. This piece, originally entitled GOTAWAY, has morphed and evolved into this. A neon traffic square flooded with soft pinks and purples.
Because if I made it - of course it's got purple. Why wouldn't it?
What made this piece so unique to me is that it's nearly devoid of dark. I usually like to highlight everything in black to ensure that there's something bold to stand out- but with spring quickly coming on, I decided to take another approach and instead made this piece light, soft and delicate.
Maybe there's something to be said for that: Forfeiting the dark to focus on the soft, light and bright. The beautiful delicacy of it is something special and that's always exciting.
